Our Recovery Model
The DCAT Recovery Continuum requires more than attending appointments. Many clients need clinical treatment, physical health support, medication coordination, daily structure, practical stabilization, employment readiness, financial literacy, healthy routines, and ongoing accountability. Deerfield’s recovery continuum is designed to connect these pieces into one coordinated pathway.
At the center of the model is Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). IOP provides the structured clinical nucleus of early recovery. Outpatient care helps clients continue the work after IOP. CRS services help clients apply recovery skills in daily life. Nursing Consultation and Medication-Assisted Treatment support physical health and medication-based recovery needs when clinically appropriate. Psychiatric evaluation and mental health care coordination help address co-occurring needs that may affect recovery stability. ALIGN ties the system together by focusing on measurable stabilization, workforce development, and long-term growth.
Intensive Outpatient Program
The Intensive Outpatient Program is a structured twelve-week clinical program designed for individuals who require more support than traditional outpatient counseling while continuing to live, work, and participate within their communities.
Meeting three days each week, clients progress through a carefully designed curriculum that builds recovery one step at a time. Each week introduces practical skills that strengthen insight, accountability, emotional regulation, communication, relapse prevention, and healthy decision-making.
Throughout treatment, clients work closely with licensed addiction counselors while receiving coordinated support from recovery specialists, nursing staff, medication providers, and community resources when clinically appropriate.
The goal is not simply completing twelve weeks. The goal is helping individuals develop the knowledge, confidence, and stability necessary to continue building successful lives in recovery.
Outpatient Care
Recovery does not end after Intensive Outpatient treatment. Outpatient Counseling provides continued therapeutic support while clients begin applying recovery skills in everyday life.
As employment, family responsibilities, education, and community involvement increase, outpatient treatment helps clients maintain accountability while navigating new challenges. Individual counseling focuses on relapse prevention, emotional wellness, healthy relationships, stress management, and continued personal growth.
Outpatient counseling also serves as the coordination hub of the Deerfield Recovery Continuum, ensuring clients remain connected to Certified Recovery Specialists, Medication-Assisted Treatment, Nursing Consultation, psychiatric services, and community recovery resources whenever additional support is needed.
Certified Recovery Specialists
Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) services help clients to bridge the gap between clinical treatment and everyday life. CRS support focuses on the practical barriers, habits, routines, and accountability structures that often determine whether treatment gains become sustainable.
Our CRS model is a unique strength because the team brings a dynamic blend of recovery experience, practical life-stabilization knowledge, fitness and nutrition training, financial expertise, and real-world perspective. The CRS team helps clients build healthier routines, improve follow-through, strengthen recovery engagement, and develop the independence needed for long-term stability.
Integrative Wellness & Whole-Person Recovery
Recovery involves more than eliminating substance use—it involves restoring balance throughout every area of life.
Our Integrative Wellness program complements traditional clinical treatment by supporting stress reduction, emotional regulation, physical wellness, and overall quality of life. These services are intended to enhance—not replace—evidence-based addiction treatment.
Complementary wellness opportunities include bio-magnetism services provided by Diana Porebski, along with education and resources that encourage healthy lifestyle practices, self-care, mindfulness, and long-term wellness.
Medication Support & Medication Management
For many individuals, recovery includes medical support alongside counseling and behavioral change. When clinically appropriate, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) can reduce cravings, improve treatment engagement, and strengthen long-term recovery outcomes.
Our medical team works collaboratively with counselors, recovery specialists, nursing staff, and psychiatric providers to ensure medications are integrated into each client's individualized treatment plan.
Medication services are provided based upon comprehensive assessment, clinical appropriateness, provider recommendations, and ongoing evaluation throughout treatment.
(Medication services are provided or coordinated based on clinical appropriateness, provider availability, assessment results, and individualized treatment planning.)
Nurse Consultations & Physical Health Support
Physical health and recovery are closely connected.
Substance use often affects sleep, nutrition, chronic medical conditions, medication adherence, and overall wellness. Our nursing consultation services help identify physical health concerns that may impact recovery while providing education, care coordination, and referrals when appropriate.
Nursing services may include:
- Medication education
- Health screenings
- Coordination with primary care providers
- Wellness education
- Recovery-related physical health support
- Post-acute withdrawal education
- General health resource navigation
By strengthening physical wellness, clients are better positioned to engage fully in treatment and long-term recovery.
